Dear Church Family,
Did you know that June is the month with the longest daylight hours of the year? With so much daylight it makes the days seem longer. What are we to do with all this daylight? Many of you will head to the pool or vacate to the beach. Perhaps you will spend some time at the lake or travel to a theme park. There are several summer activities that will be enjoyed in the month of June.
As I thought about all the daylight in June, I was reminded of Hebrews 3:13 which says, “encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” Do you like to be encouraged? I know I do. The writer of Hebrews tells us that we need encouragement. He tells us that encouragement will protect us from being deceived by sin.
We are to encourage one another to trust the Lord and find joy in Him and His ways. How often do you encourage others in our church? You and I know that discouragement is readily available to everyone in this world. Should not the church be different? As a followers of Jesus we need to focus on building one another up. One of the primary ways we can do this is by encouraging one another in the Lord. Whether you are in the morning worship service, Sunday School, around town, or even in Church Conference look for ways to encourage others so that we are not deceived by sin.
The month of June provides the longest daylight hours of the year which makes “today” seem longer than normal. That means that we have more time to be agents of encouragement. Who can you encourage today?
