Welcome to AWANA at The Hill

History: AWANA is an international, Bible centered minististry that helps kids connect with God. Founded in 1950, AWANA has grown from a small club in Chicago to a ministry reaching millions of children around the world each week.

Purpose: AWANA handbooks present the Bible clearly in an age-appropriate level, focusing on establishing a personal relationship between the AWANA clubber and Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Fun activies and Bible studies help give the clubber a Biblical worldview by building up their Bible knowledge and instilling in them a love and respect for God's word.

Who can join? Currently, we offer three AWANA clubs for various ages.

  • Cubbies: age 3-5 (potty trained)
  • Sparks: kindegarden-second grade
  • Truth and Training: third-sixth grade

Registration: Children may join AWANA anytime throughout the school year by filling out the attached registration form or by calling our office at 706-736-8446. The suggested registration cost is $15 per child which includes the appropriate club handbook. There are a certain number of scholarships available to help with the registration costs. Special consideration will be made for families with multiple children.

Times: Our doors open at 6:00pm every Wednesday evening and club ends at 7:30pm. By arriving at 6:00pm, your clubber has the opportunity to eat dinner at Church. However, it is the parent's responsibility to RSVP their child weekly for the catered meal. Meal reservations can be done in advance at the time of registration. The game portion of AWANA club begins promptly at 6:30pm followed by large and small group time. Parent's are to pick their children up in the designated spot at 7:30pm.

Club Structure: AWANA club consists of three parts.

  • Game Time: High energy, exciting games are played indoors. Our game time promotes fun, exercise, good sportsmanship, and an opportunity to excel. Winning teams have the opportunity to recieve AWANA dollars and special recognition.
  • Small Group: Clubbers work in small groups with other clubbers in their grade and handbook with a leader. The leader will lead the small group time and help clubbers learn their verses. The leader and listeners will listen to completed sections and sign off in their handbook. Each club night the sections completed will earn AWANA dollars and build up toward awards.
  • Large Group: An interactive, age appropraite Bible lesson and worship time which includes Biblical truths. This time provides the clubber an opportunity to share praises and prayer requests with the group.

Theme Nights & Special Activities: A calendar will come home with your clubber highlighting special events and theme nights. Theme nights may include crazy hair or tacky sock night, while special activities may include events such as canned food drives.

AWANA dollars and store: Clubbers earn AWANA dollars that can be spent at The Hill's AWANA store on small gifts or treats. The AWANA club calendar will display the dates the AWANA store is available throughout the year.
